Having problems sharing an updated vacancy link on LinkedIn and it's showing old information?
LinkedIn caches link previews (including the title, description, and image) the first time a URL is shared. Even if you update the page or delete the post, LinkedIn often keeps the cached version for a while.
Here are a couple of ways to fix or work around this:
Option 1: Use LinkedIn Post Inspector
LinkedIn provides a tool called Post Inspector.
- Go to https://www.linkedin.com/post-inspector/
- Paste your URL there and click Inspect.
- This forces LinkedIn to re-scrape the page and update its cache.
- After that, repost the link, and the new preview should appear.
Option 2: Change the URL Slightly
If the option above doesn't work, try adding a query string like
Original URL: https://careers.mydomain.com/senior-manager-1234.htm
Updated URL: https://careers.mydomain.com/senior-manager-1234.htm?a=1
?a=1 to the URL which can trick LinkedIn into treating it as a new link. For example...Original URL: https://careers.mydomain.com/senior-manager-1234.htm
Updated URL: https://careers.mydomain.com/senior-manager-1234.htm?a=1
Please note that if your original URL already has a query string then you need to add an additional & symbol e.g. https://careers.mydomain.com/senior-manager-1234.htm?ref=rgsite&a=1
